Sharon Svenson

My design experience comes from over 30 years of weaving rugs and tapestry, seed bead weaving, and hand knitting. Drifting from weaving to mosaics has been a natural evolutionary shift. What they have in common is the proccess of building up small areas of color, whether with yarn or glass fragments. The potency of color in all these mediums is what seduces me. Recently I have become involved with quilting! Oh, Oh!

Loom Woven Rugs and Tapestries

My artistic foundations are in the field of textiles. In 1972 I wove my first rug on a floor loom I had made out of basically, scrap lumber. From that moment on I was hooked!

Hand Knitted Wool Hats

These hats were popular among the guides on Denali in the 80's. in addition to being the hat of choice for porters and guides around the world. After 4,000 hats I decided to change directions!

Loom Woven seed beads

I have used #14 seed beads in most of my pieces. These are mounted on handmade papers and have varied in size from 1 to 2 feet square.

Quilts!

These are my first quilts, I truly have gone insane!
